Local resident associations up in arms over proposed new children’s hospital

More than 10 resident associations, representing over 400 homes, have confirmed that they will raise objections to the proposed site for the new children’s hospital at St. James’ Hospital when the planning application is lodged at the end of July.

Local residents feel they have been “shafted”, and are claiming that both the Government and developers are not being straighforward about issues of traffic, parking, and pollution.

A large number of residents have attended information meetings with the National Paediatric Development Board (NPHDB), but remain sceptical.

Some people who have lived in the area for a number of years have claimed for instance that previous renovation works at the hospital caused damage to their house, and are now concerned that works of this magnitude will again affect their home.
