Two kayaks capsized during a fundraiser event for the local YMCA, sending scores of people into the freezing waters of the River Foyle.
Foyle Search and Rescue (FSR) rescued 26 people, aged between 18 and in their mid 50s.
An Irish Coastguard helicopter airlifted five of the boaters to hospital, where they were treated for hypothermia.
