Up to 1,000 people gathered on Friday in Thurles, Co. Tipperary, to protest about the proposed relocation of the town’s Post Office.
It is understood that the facility is to be moved from its current location in the town’s square to a shopping centre just 700 metres away.
An Post says that the move will offer a newer and larger facility, while locals say that removing the Post Office from the town’s square will have a detrimental effect on footfall, likely affecting businesses’ long-term viability.
The row continues.
