The ongoing row between Luas drivers and the company operating the tram system, Transdev, is likely to escalate after talks between union and company representatives broke down without agreement.
According to SIPTU’s Divisional organiser Eoin Reidy, Transdev have only been prepared to talk about two of the four pay grades, even after drivers significantly scaled back their claim.
It is understood that unions are now looking for a 6% increase per annum for five years, with some of that backdated to 2014.
Mr. Reidy said that drivers will meet with union representatives in the coming days to discuss a range of options, including all out strike.
