Commuter chaos looms in the capital this Thursday, as Luas drivers will once again down their tools and walk out of the job.
Pay negotiations broke down this evening, after drivers rejected the 13% pay rise over three years offered by Transdev.
Three non-driver grades at the Luas service did accept the offer, however, and won’t be joining the drivers on Thursday.
Transdev boss Gerry Madden said: “They (the drivers) are in a place where, still way off any reasonable deal that we can do, they are looking in the region of 26.5%.
“The deal we’ve done last week that were formally accepted today with the other grades was 13% so we have a significant gap still to be closed between ourselves and the drivers.”
