The prime suspect in the 2007 disappearance of Madeleine McCann has been charged in Germany with multiple unrelated sex offenses allegedly committed in Portugal between 2000 and 2017.

Prosecutors in Braunschweig, Germany, have charged convicted sex offender Christian Brückner, a 45-yr-old German, with three counts of raping and twice child sexual abuse.

One of the allegations concerns the alleged rape of a 20-yr-old Irish woman in Praia da Rocha in 2004, reports RTE.

Another allegation concerns the alleged rape of a 70-yr-old woman in her holiday home in Portugal on an unknown date between 2000 and 2006.

The German national is also accused of forcing a 14-yr-old girl to engage in sexual activity, as well as two other offenses involving girls aged 10 and 11.

Christian Brueckner is currently serving a seven-year sentence in northern Germany for raping a 72-yr-old American tourist in Praia da Luz in 2005.

The investigation into Madeleine’s disappearance continues regardless of the charges, prosecutors said.
