Madness: Driving from 4pm today with a Red Alert weather warning is described as “suicidal”

People in Leinster and Munster should be aware that given Met Éireann’s Red Alert issued for both whole provinces from Thursday afternoon that many supermarkets and even local shops will be closed and that any more stocking of provisions need should be done by early tomorrow.

The counties of Dublin, Louth, Kildare, Wicklow and Meath saw a heavy snowfall that essentially paralysed the country with weather conditions continuing to deteriorate.

With government officials warning that the worst is yet to come people are being urged to make any last-minute preparations necessary before 4PM Thursday at the latest.

After 4PM on Thursday is recommended that noon leave their home unless it is absolutely necessary and driving in the conditions expected Thursday evening has been described as “suicidal”.
