Major armed-Gardai presence in the town of Drogheda after bomb scare and kidnapping




There was a major policing presence felt in the town of Drogheda, Co. Louth last evening as armed-gardai held numerous checkpoints in various parts of the northeast town.

Armed-Gardai with machine guns were stopping traffic on the Dublin Road, Cement Rd and Newfoundwell areas of the town over the evening.

Earlier in the day, gardai had confirmed that they had arrested five men in connection with the alleged kidnapping of man in Drogheda on Sunday.

According to RTÉ News, the man aged in his 20s was found with a number of injuries following a raid at a house on Sunday evening.

The latest incident follows a series of incidents in the town over the last few days.

Although Gardai have yet to confirm if they are related.
