There’s major concern within Aer Lingus today, following the recent announcement that British Airways (BA) is laying off up to 12,000 staff.
The move comes after it emerged that BA’s revenues plunged by 13% during Q1 2020.
Both airlines are owned by the same group, International Airlines Group (IAG), which also owns Spanish airlines Vueling and Iberia.
The Covid-19 pandemic has grounded most flights worldwide, causing severe financial difficulties to many airlines.
While there hasn’t been any definite announcement at Aer Lingus, industry experts predict that ‘it’s only a matter of time’ before Ireland’s flagship air carrier is forced to shed jobs.
