The pressure of the third wave of the pandemic and lockdown restrictions have taken a major effect on front line workers, top medics say.

It’s understood that top Irish and UK medics are now very concerned that there could be an exodus of front line staff once the pandemic ends.

The reason behind the possible exodus is that front line staff have experienced “war-like” scenarios that showed them the worst end of the jobs. Many now are looking at starting a new career and leaving the medical care profession completely as a direct result of what they’ve had to endure since March 2020.

Up to 5% of front line staff are constantly at home in quarantine as a result of the pandemic, many of whom may not return to their job and will leave in the coming months.
