The roads leading to some of Galway’s most popular tourist resorts have been closed due to a landslide.
It is understood the landslide which began outside Clifden after heavy rainfall caused in the region of 4,000 tonnes of bog land to collapse onto the N59 the main route into Connemara from Galway city.
Galway County Council have released a statement saying they have worked throughout the night, but have the road remains closed due to the instability of the collapsing bog.
