Gardaí in Co Meath have launched an investigation after a baby was seriously injured following an incident at a house in Ashbourne.
It is understood the investigation comes after the baby thought to be just weeks old suffered serious injuries following the incident on Monday morning.
Gardaí investigating the incident say a woman aged in her 20s also sustained minor injuries during the incident.
They say the infant is currently being treated at Temple Street Children’s Hospital, although it is believed that her injuries are not life-threatening.
A man aged in his 20s has been arrested in connection with the incident.
