Gardaí have confirmed that a man aged in his 20s remains in critical condition in hospital following a shooting in West Dublin, on Wednesday.
It is understood the man who is known to Gardaí was shot in the Briarwood area of Mulhuddart at approximately 5pm yesterday evening.
Gardaí say the man was shot when another man approached him whilst he was travelling in a vehicle on the Blakestown Road.
Although no arrests have yet been made, Gardai say they found a BMW 3 Series car believed to be used during the incident on fire at Saddlers Grove, Mulhuddart, a short time later.
They added that an investigation is currently ongoing.
