Gardaí have confirmed that a man aged in his 30s is in critical condition in hospital following a drive-by shooting in the town this afternoon.
It is understood the man sustained serious injuries after he was shot at least once during the incident which occurred at the M1 Retail Park shortly before 3pm this afternoon.
Gardaí say the man who was taken Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, suffered the injuries after a car believed to be black Volkswagen Passat pulled up beside the vehicle he was travelling in and opened fire.
According to RTÉ News, the man was taken to hospital for treatment by two other men who were uninjured in the incident.
Gardaí say the incident is believed to be connected to an ongoing fued in the town.
