Man aged in his 50s sadly dies following St Patrick’s Day beating in Limerick

A man in his 50s who was seriously injured in anĀ assault in Limerick on St Patrick’s Day has died in hospital, reports RTE.

He has been locally identified as Liam Higgins, reports RTE.

The incident happened on Athlunkard Street at approximately 9.30pm after St Patrick’s Day celebrations in the city.

It is believed that a dispute involving several individuals escalated, during which Mr Higgins sustained injuries, reports RTE.

He was taken to University Hospital Limerick, where he passed away yesterday.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place later today, reports RTE.

Three men have already appeared before the courts in connection with the investigation, reports RTE.
