Gardaí in Co Cork have sadly confirmed that a man aged in his 60s has died following a farming accident in Whitegate, on Wednesday.
It is understood the 64-year-old man was killed after a door of a grain trailer fell on top of him.
According to The Irish Sun newspaper, it is believed that the heavy door fell on top of the man whilst he was welding inside the trailer.
Although two other men who were assisting the man tried to revive him, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
Gardaí say they are currently treating the incident as a tragic accident.
They added that the Health and Safety Authority have been notified about the incident.
