A man has appeared in court after he entered a McDonalds in Dublin where he scared children and other customers when he brandished a knife at workers.

Paul Carabini from Abbottstown Drive, Finglas is accused of trying to rob the fast food restaurant.
Paul Carabini 47 is understood to have entered the restaurant with a knife in his hand during lunchtime on Thursday.

Gardaí have stated that the man went behind the counter and threatened a female manager in full view of customers, many of whom were young children.

The court was told the accused left the restaurant empty handed and ran up a nearby laneway.
Luckily no one was hurt during the attempted robbery and Gardaí were alerted to his movements after two workers followed him.

Gardai arrested Mr Carabini a short time later at Royal Canal bank and he was charged with the attempted robbery on Thursday night.

Mr Carabini has strongly disputed the evidence given in court before the judge refused him bail, he is remanded in custody to appear in court again next week.
