Gardaí have arrested a man aged in his 50s following the a hit and run incident in the early hours of this morning.
The arrest comes after a 21-year-old man sadly lost his life following the incident which occurred on the Swords Road at the Collins Avenue Junction in Whitehall.
Gardaí say they believe the young man was struck by a heavy goods vehicle which failed to remain at the scene.
It is understood Gardaí seized a vehicle during the man’s arrest.
The man is currently being detained at Ballymun Garda Station.
