Last month, detectives investigating the assassination attempt on a senior PSNI official arrested a man for claiming responsibility for the attack by dissident republicans.
The so-called New IRA said they carried out the shooting attack on Chief Inspector John Caldwell at a sports complex in Omagh on 22 February.
He was hit multiple times after taking a youth soccer training session. He is still seriously ill, reports RTE.
The New IRA claimed responsibility in a typed message taped to the wall of a row of shops in Derry.
Police said they arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with that claim after searching a property in the city.
He’s also being questioned about a fake device that was left outside the Brandywell football ground last month.
It was the venue for the President’s Cup, a match between Derry City and Shamrock Rovers, which was attended by both chairman Michael D. Higgins and North secretary Chris Heaton Harris, reports RTE.
The man was taken to Belfast’s Musgrave Street Serious Crime Suite for questioning.
Eight other men arrested in connection with the attempted murder of Mr Caldwell have been released after questioning, reports RTE.
