A woman in her 20s was stabbed and subjected to sexual assault in County Kerry earlier today; a man has been taken into custody in relation to this crime and charged, reports RTE.
At around 9.30 am, emergency personnel were sent to a domestic residence located on Maine Street in Tralee.
It is acknowledged that the woman could have suffered many stab wounds.
For treatment, she was brought to University Hospital Kerry, where her wounds are not thought to be life-threatening, reports RTE.
At midday, the thirty-something man was taken into custody at a housing complex on the town’s northern outskirts.
He’s been detained at a Kerry garda station.
A technical inspection has begun, and the location near Maine Street has been cordoned off, reports RTE.
