‘Brave beyond words’ – Charlie Bird gets remembered at his service

During a memorial ceremony in Dublin to honour his life, charity advocate and former RTÉ journalist Charlie Bird was described as “brave beyond words,” a national treasure, and an inspiration, reports RTE.

After a protracted fight with motor neurone disease, for which he was first diagnosed in October 2021, the father of two passed away on Monday at the age of 74.

‘Bird’s’ enthusiasm for life, according to his wife Claire Mould, was what drew her to him.

She said that he liked being the focus of attention and that there was never a dull moment spent with him, reports RTE.

She mentioned that they had been on several adventures and that they had toured the world in search of them.

“I love you Bird, and I’m going to miss you so much,” she said, reports RTE.
