A man in his early 20s was shot and killed in broad daylight this afternoon when a gunman opened fire in a housing estate in Athy, Co. Kildare.
The man was shot three times and left in a critical condition. He was rushed to Naas General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Gardai have arrested a man in his 40s in connection with the incident.
