Police in the US state of Arizona, have confirmed that a man has died after a swarm of bees attacked him when he tried to remove their hive from his back garden.
According to a post on their Facebook page, the Yuma County Sherrif’s Office confirmed that Epigmenio Gonzalez, 51, was killed after he was attacked by the bees on Sunday.
It is believed that officers and firefighters found Gonzalez running through his garden covered in bees on Sunday afternoon.
However despite the best efforts of firefighters who tried to rescue Gonzalez by spraying water on him, he was sadly pronounced dead at nearby hospital a short time later.
Police investigating the incident also say Gonzalez’s wife was taken to hospital following the incident with a number of stings, although they have refused to release information in regards to her current condition.
They added that Mr Gonzalez’s death is being treated as an accidential death.
