The “baby shower” is a big trend in the US. Parents to be, hold parties to celebrate the arrival of a new baby. Celebrations includes gifts, fun and many now incorporate fireworks and other pyrotechnic devices.
But one Baby Shower ended in a man dying when a celebration “cannon” exploded reports CNN.
Evan Thomas Silva died when the gunpowder loaded into the cannon, caused the cannon to fracture and exploded in the garden where the party was being held. The shrapnel travelled ten to fifteen feet and hit Mr Silva who died from his injuries.
The homeowner had purchased the cannon at an auction and had fired it several times before, police said.
