Authorities in Australia have confirmed that a man has died following a shark attack on Tuesday.
It is understood that the man aged in his 50s was swimming off Tuncurry Beach in New South Wales when the incident occurred.
Police investigating the incident say the man sustained critical injuries to his upper thigh but was sadly pronounced dead despite the best efforts of emergency personnel.
It is believed that the incident is the country’s first shark attack of the year.
