Man due in court this morning after Ebola prank at Dublin Airport

A man is expected to appear in court today after being charged in connection with an incident on board an Aer Lingus plane yesterday afternoon, which lead to a security alert being declared at Dublin Airport.

According to various reports it is believed that the man in question a passenger on the plane claimed that he had the deadly Ebola virus after he wrote it on a coffee cup.

It is understood that gardai attended the scene of a public order offence at approximately 1pm yesterday afternoon after it was reported that a passenger on board the flight had shown a plastic cup to a flight attendant marked “Attentione Ebola”.

It is thought that there were around 142 passengers on board at the time of the incident.

Shortly after the incident, two women, aged 51 and 23, and a 56-year-old man were arrested by the gardai.

However it is has now been confirmed that the two women have been released without any charge. Although the man believed to be an Italian national is expected to appear in court at 10.30am this morning. He is currently being detained at Ballymun garda station.
