Man jailed for 3 years after attempting to push someone in front of train on London’s underground

A trainee accountant has been jailed for 3 years after attempting to push a man onto the train tracks in the underground in London.

According to the Metro,  23-year-old Mathuram Muthuraja had been at a family party earlier in the night and was travelling on the underground together with other party guests in order to go to a nightclub and continue partying.

When the train reached the station at Baron’s Court, he allegedly jumped from the train and tried to push Harsha Jayasekera onto the tracks. Jayasekera, who was knocked unconscious in the attack, had to be pulled back onto the platform by horrified passengers whose bravery was commended by the judge who eventually heard the case.

The same judge also said that Mutheraja as acting in a “clearly aggressive” manner and as someone who was “spoiling for a fight”. In sentencing him to jail for 3 years, she said that being drunk after a party was not an excuse for acting in this way.
