A man has been jailed for life for murdering his wife almost three years ago.

According to RTE, Alan Ward was convicted of killing his wife, Catherine Doyle at their home in Clondalkin.  Ms Doyle was murdered in March 2019 after Ward had previously been convicted of assaulting her in 2002.  Gardai were also called to their house five times.

Ward had written a letter to be read in Court in which he said that he was ashamed of his actions and would change them if he could.  Ms. Doyle’s three sons gave a statement outside Court, saying that it a comfort to know that their mother was loved so much.

Gardai took the opportunity to send out a message to other women who may be living with domestic violence.  They asked women to seek help in their situation and reassured them that they would get the assistance that they needed.
