Man jailed for life over the murder of his 78-yr-old uncle

A brutal and cruel attack on his 78-yr-old uncle two years ago resulted in the 34-year-old man’s murder conviction and life sentence, reports RTE.

In January 2022, Thomas Lorigan denied killing John O’Neill at his Lisdoonvarna, County Clare residence on St. Brendan’s Road. After a trial earlier this month, a jury did, however, find him guilty.

Lorigan dragged his uncle back inside the home after kicking and stamping on his head, according to testimony given during the trial. Smashed family photos were discovered inside the house.

When Lorigan was a little child, Mr. O’Neill took up the role of guardian for him following the death of his mother, Geraldine, Mr. O’Neill’s sister, reports RTE.

Nevertheless, the court was informed that because Lorigan had turned 18.

Unfathomable catastrophe had ripped the family apart.

Mr. O’Neill, according to her, is the heart and soul of the Lisdoonvarna neighbourhood.

According to Ms. Higgins, her mother’s recollections of her brother’s last moments had left her feeling confused, numb, and incredibly troubled, reports RTE.
