A family lawyer has stated that the man who was stamped on and kicked in the head by a police officer has a cyst on his brain, reports Sky.

A day after video of the incident at Manchester Airport went viral on social media, Akhmed Yakoob made the remark in a statement outside Rochdale Police Station.

He added that a CT scan performed after the event revealed the individual, identified by the lawyer as Fahir, had a cyst on his brain, reports Sky.

According to Mr. Yakoob, who is also assisting Fahir’s brother Amaad and their ageing mother, Fahir’s condition deteriorated over night.

The three of them allege that on Tuesday night at the airport, at least one Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officer attacked them.

He said: “He went in today and spoke to his supervisor, and the only reason he is not going to work is because he is fearing for his own safety,” reports Sky.

The announcement follows the GMP’s confirmation that one officer had been suspended in connection with video that seemed to show a man being stamped on and kicked in the head as he was laying on the ground.

The video, which was shot at Manchester Airport on Tuesday night, sparked a social media backlash when it was extensively circulated.

In a previous statement, GMP stated it recognised the “massive sense of concern and worry that people experience” following the release of the video.

They also mentioned that prior to the video being taken, they had been reacting to claims of an attack at the airport, reports Sky.
