Man on death row in the US is given a date for his execution after killing policeman over 30 years ago

A man in the US has been given a date for his execution, over 30 years after being given the death sentence.

According to the Mirror, 77-year-old Carl Wayne Buntion has now been told that he will die on April 21.

Buntion was found guilty of killing a policeman and was sentenced to death in 1991.  He will now be executed in April.

The family of the officer who was killed has welcomed the news.  His widow, Maura Irby, said that the family can now move forward as it is closing a chapter on her husband’s murder.

Buntion had appealed the decision in October 2021 but this was denied by the US Supreme Court.
