Man remains in custody after fatal road collision in Co Wexford




A man has been taken into custody after a traffic accident in County Wexford during the early hours of the morning, which resulted in the death of a man in his 60s, reports RTE.

The incident, involving a passenger van and a 4×4 vehicle, happened on the N25 at Ballykelly, near Drinagh, at approximately 1:10am.

The van driver was declared dead at the location of the crash, reports RTE.

His remains have been transported to Wexford General Hospital, where a post-mortem will be conducted.

One of the passengers in the 4×4 was brought to Wexford General Hospital, but their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, reports RTE.

The 4×4’s driver, a man in his 40s, was detained at the scene and is currently being held at a Garda station in Wexford.

The road is currently shut to allow for a forensic investigation, with local traffic diversions in operation.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses, or any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N25 between 12.30am and 1.30am this morning, to contact Garda Station on 053 916 5200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station, reports RTE.
