Man sadly dies in Sligo after e-scooter collides with a van




One person has died after an electric scooter collided with a van in Co Sligo, reports Breaking News.

The incident took place at Rushen Commune in Rivertown at 8:10 pm on Wednesday.

A man (50) was riding an electric scooter when he collided with a van. He was pronounced dead on the spot.

The van driver, aged in his 30s, is being treated for minor injuries at Sligo University Hospital, reports Breaking News.

The L1303 road is currently closed pending a forensic investigation into the collision.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses.

The incident means the number of people killed on Irish roads this year is now equal to the number of deaths in 2022, reports Breaking News.

A total of 155 people died in road accidents – 36 more than the same period last year.

A highly visible road safety campaign will take place this October weekend, reports Breaking News.
