A man has been charged with murder after he gunned down two boys and attempted to shoot a third after the teens asked him how tall he was in a candy store in South Chicago.

The boys commented that the man, identified as 19-year-old Laroy Battle, was quite tall and that they too wished to be so tall someday. The man proceed to produce an illegally owned pistol and shoot Jasean Francis (17) in the back and chest and Charles Riley, (16) in the back and left leg.

A third teenage boy escaped without being shot but both boys who were hit with the gunfire would later die from their wounds in hospital.

Battle was denied bond and has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder. Police said he had a previous conviction for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, for which he received probation.

Both the victims and murder in this tragic case were black so the media has largely ignored it while Black Lives Matter has ignored it entirely.

In Chicago hundreds of people have been shot and dozens killed in just the last few months however, even though the vast majority of victims are black, most of the perpetrators are also black so the daily bloodbaths in America’s third largest get little attention.
