Man suspected of impersonating a police officer is arrested after pulling over off duty cop

Police in the North have arrested a man on suspicion of impersonating a police officer after an off duty police officer was pulled over in Craigavon.

It is believed that the man was arrested after an off duty PSNI officer was stopped by a white unmarked Skoda Superb with blue flashing lights at approximately 1am on Wednesday morning.

The incident which occurred on the M1 saw the off duty stop by the side of the road on the hard shoulder.

However the off duty police officer became suspicious after he was accused of speeding and when the man showed him his police card the officer quickly learned that it was not a legitimate PSNI Warrant Card.

Upon challenging the man, the suspect then fled the scene at high speed.

Police later arrested the man a short time later in Bluestone Hall.
