A man sustained serious injuries after being assaulted with a machete in Waterford overnight.
The incident happened at around 3am today inside a house in the St. Herblain Park area of the city.
It is understood that a male broke his way into the house and inflicted non-fatal slashing and cutting injuries to the victim.
No arrests have yet been made, and investigations are ongoing.
