Security services took a man into custody after he was seen bringing petrol cans and lighters into a New York cathedral.
The incident happened at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in the city just two days after a fire ripped through Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.
The 37-year-old man allegedly brought four gallons of gasoline, two bottles of lighter fluid, and lighters into the building. He was confronted by a security guard and arrested shortly afterwards.
It is understood that the man is known to authorities, who are probing the motives for his actions.
