A man has been taken to hospital after a car crashed into the window of the famous Aldi store in Rathmines, Dublin 6.

The circumstances of the crash are unclear, but a spokesman for An Garda Síochána confirmed that only one car was involved in the crash, which forced the supermarket to close, reports The Irish Mirror.

There are no reports of casualties in this collision which occurred around 7.30am on Monday.

Due to the damage to the store, Aldi was forced to close for several hours on Monday morning, with a supermarket spokesman saying: “Our Rathmines store remains closed this morning following an earlier incident. We hope to re-open as normal this afternoon. We apologise for any inconvenience,” reports The Irish Mirror.

A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana told The Irish Mirror: “Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a single-vehicle road traffic collision on the Rathmines Road Lower, Dublin 6, this morning, 20th March 2023 at approximately 7.30am. A man was taken to hospital for treatment. There are no other reports of injuries at this time. The road has now reopened. Enquiries are ongoing,” reports The Irish Mirror.
