A man who sexually abused a sleeping woman has been sentenced to 39 months in prison, with the last nine months suspended.
According to BreakingNews, the 38-yr-old, whose name could not be determined to protect the victim’s anonymity, had taken a photo of the woman and sent it to her with the message that he had performed a sexual act on her.
Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard the woman had locked the door and believe the man gained access to her bedroom by climbing over a balcony through an open window.
The man pleaded guilty to sexual assault at an address in Co Dublin on June 1 or 2, 2018. He has four prior convictions, including driving under the influence of alcohol, reports BreakingNews.
During sentencing hearing, Judge Melanie Greally said the crime was committed at the end of a night of social activity in which the defendant consumed alcohol and other substances.
