A major manhunt is underway after fugitive Joseph McCann has been named by police for the abduction and rapes of three women. He is also wanted in connection with the kidnapping of two more women in Cheshire.

Police were investigating whether the man may be trying to flee the country, possibly travelling to Ireland or Scotland but thankfully that is no longer the case.

He has been described by police as “extremely dangerous”. The 34-yr-old is suspected of being involved in two women being forced into a black Fiat Punto in Congleton town centre, Cheshire, at around 6.45pm on Sunday evening.

It’s understood that he got rumbled and crashed his car before running away on foot. The women were left in the car. They are unhurt but “extremely shaken”.

They have warned anyone who sees him not to approach him and to phone the police immediately.

Unconfirmed reports claim that McCann is now in a stand-off with police where he is holed-up but this is not yet confirmed by authorities.
