Gardaí in Cork are currently conducting a manhunt this evening after a man held up cleaning staff in a post office in the north of the city.
Gardai say the man who was carrying a knife threatened cleaning staff after he entered Mayfield Post Office on Kerry Road approximately 2pm. It is understood the assailant quickly fled the scene after he discovered there was no cash on the premises.
Thankfully there were no injuries reported. Eye witnesses say the man fled the scene in a blue Ford Fiesta which was recovered a short time later.
The man is described as being five feet eight inches tall and was wearing sunglasses, grey tracksuit bottoms and a dark coloured hoodie.
