It has been confirmed that Fine Gael TD Maria Bailey will not chair the Oireachtas Housing Committee later today.
In an announcement deputy chairperson Pat Casey confirmed that Ms Bailey will not attend the committee which is due to get underway at 9am.
The news comes as Ms Bailey is expected to meet the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar to discuss the fallout from the recent SwingGate scandal.
It is thought that Mr Varadkar could meet Ms Bailey as early as today to discuss her previous appearence on RTÉ’s Today with Sean O’Rourke programme.
Although Ms Bailey’s future remains undecided, it is reported that the Taoiseach is unhappy at Ms Bailey’s decision to take legal action against a Dublin hotel after falling from a swing.
It is also believed that the Taoiseach is to question Ms Bailey’s decision to appear on RTÉ Radio without the consultation of the Fine Gael party.
