Mark Williams has become the oldest player to win the World Snooker Championship this evening.
Williams 43, came out on top to defeat John Higgins 18-16 at the Crucible in Sheffield.
The Welshman who had an impressive season managed to take the crown even though his opponent Higgins, put on a spirited performance to draw level at 15-15 after he trailed 15-10 at the end of this afternoon’s first session.
However following a much needed spell amongst the balls, Williams managed to take three frames to claim an impressive victory.
