Almost 11,000 concerned women contacted the HSE in the fallout from the recent cervical cancer check scandal.
The under-pressure line has struggled to cope with demand, and it is understood that at least three quarters of the people who called have not yet received an answer to their query.
The HSE is now facing a wide array of lawsuits arising from multiple failures to identify anomalies in the tests of thousands of women over the past decade.
