Mel Schilling, the beloved relationship expert and dating coach best known for her sharp insights on ‘Married at First Sight’ Australia and UK, has died at the age of 54.

Schilling passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, surrounded by love, her husband Gareth Brisbane announced on Instagram. The news comes just weeks after she revealed her colon cancer, first diagnosed in December 2023, had become terminal, spreading to her lungs and brain. Despite radiotherapy, doctors told her there was nothing further they could do. “My light is starting to fade — and quickly,” she wrote in an emotional post.

A qualified psychologist with over 20 years’ experience, Schilling joined *MAFS* in 2016 and became a fan favourite for her no-nonsense yet compassionate advice on love and relationships. She continued filming through chemotherapy, never missing a day, showcasing remarkable courage and grace.

Husband Gareth paid tribute, calling her “the queen of reality TV, an incredible mum and my soulmate” to their daughter Maddie. Tributes have poured in from colleagues and fans, remembering her as a bright, fearless voice in television.

Schilling’s legacy lives on in the countless couples she guided and the awareness she raised about early cancer detection. She urged followers: if something doesn’t feel right, get it checked. She is survived by her husband and daughter. (198 words)
