Fianna Fáil leader Mícheál Martin has not ruled out entering a coalition with Sinn Féin following the results the General Election by saying that the country comes first.
Martin who has previously stated that his party had no interest of entering a coalition with Sinn Féin, said that the results were a reflection of the peoples decision.
Although Martin reiterated that his party’s and Sinn Féin’s mandates are completely different, he did state that he was a democrat and now is not the time to rule anything out.
He added that all parties must wait until all results have come in before any discussions about a potential government get underway.
Martin also said that any future government must have a policy and substantive programme that can last.
