The Taoiseach Micheal Martin has announced that the Irish public’s sensitive and private health records could end up for all to see on the internet.
Martin’s comments come on the back of the State’s biggest cyber attack on the HSE and the Department of Health that sees a ransomware demand of some €16 million to be paid for full restoration of data.
If that doesn’t happen and the government continues to refuse to pay the ransom, it could mean weeks and months before the HSE’s computer system gets fully restored.
Many on social media believe it’s utterly despicable that the public’s private records have been so compromised and could possibly now end up online.
