The Tanaiste Leo Varadkar has said that the vast majority of the population should be fully vaccinated by September.
Speaking before an Oireachtas Enterprise Committee, the Tanaiste said that he fully expects that those receiving their vaccine should have their second dose by the end of the summer.
Varadkar told the committee that the Government intends to complete its economic recovery plan within the next fortnight and it will provide assistance to those greatly affected by the pandemic.
The Tanaiste also revealed that close to 261,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine was administered in the week leading up to May 10th.
Varadkar went on to say that pandemic Unemployment payments and subsidy schemes won’t continue forever, but a number of measures being put in place to address the phasing out of payments.
He added that there won’t be a cliff edge for the payments but insisted that they can’t be continued indefinitely.
