Martina Cox gives an emotional interview about her husband Sean’s brutal attack in Liverpool

Martina Cox spoke on last night’s Late Late Show about her husband Sean’s brutal attack in Liverpool.

An Italian football fan was accused of seriously injuring an Irish Liverpool supporter before a Champions League semi-final match in April.

21-yr-old Filippo Lombardi has denied wounding or inflicting grievous bodily harm on 53-yr-old Meath man Sean Cox but admitted hitting him with a belt.

Sean suffered horrendous head damage after he took a ferocious beating outside Anfield in April.

The Italian had initially denied a charge of violent disorder, but at a pre-trial review hearing at Preston Crown Court in England yesterday afternoon, he changed his plea.

Lombardi’s interpreter said that he admitted the charge of being part of a group who used or threatened unlawful violence before the match against Roma on the 24th of April 2018.

Lombardi has been remanded in custody ahead of his trial for the assault on Mr Cox on 10 October this year.

Last month, 29-yr-old Roma fan Daniele Sciusco, was jailed for two-and-a-half years after he admitted violent disorder before the match.

The Co. Meath man remains in Dun Laoghaire where he’s in a rehabilitation centre.

We wish him and his family well.
