Two gunmen from the Ulster Defense Association shot him more than a dozen times in his Belfast home as he was having Sunday lunch with his wife and three children. The Dublin based TD stated that while “his stuff is idiosyncratic, it’s different”

She said that gave the public an insight into “him as a person and his sense of humour”

Ms McDonald however admitted that an apology was needed in the case of  the Sinn Féin leader using the “N word” on Twitter, describing it as “very, very loaded”.

According to Mary Lou Mr Adams was simply trying to make a political statement, and it went horribly wrong.

At a press conference in Leinster House today she was asked numerous times whether she was embarrassed by Gerry Adams’ actions on Twitter.

She simply stated “I don’t actually see any harm in that”
